This week in the Quiet ADHD Club – 5 May
An invitation, our accountability thread and Tuesday's Body-doubling session
Hi quiet you,
I mentioned last week that we’re now more than a third of the way into the year. Does it feel like time is speeding up for you? Do you have a sense of needing to get on with stuff, to make things happen?
Our ADHD brains have a tendency to make us feel like we’re always behind, that we need to work harder, go faster, try more. It gives us an unsettled feeling, a restlessness that’s hard to pin down. As with so much of what we find challenging it helps to know that it’s because of our brain wiring that we feel or think like this. Often we aren’t behind. We don’t need to try harder to keep up and we’re not failing.
Something I’ve always been very clear about with the online courses I taught and the previous membership I ran is that you can’t fall behind and you do not have to keep up with me and anything I create for you.
Let me say that again to be clear:
In the Quiet ADHD Club you can’t fall behind and there is no keeping up.
There is such value in the Club resources I want you to take them at your own speed so you get the full benefit. The world applies enough pressure, the last thing I’m going to do is give you more.
AND if you’re thinking, ‘But I need pressure to do stuff or else it doesn’t happen!’ I’ve got you. What you’re looking for is not pressure it’s accountability and so there’s the weekly thread you can join in with and the Body-doubling sessions on Zoom you can come along to (more on both below).
So if you’d like to come be a full member of the Quiet ADHD Club but you’re worried you won’t be able to keep up with everything – you don’t have to, you can take your time.
In the Quiet ADHD Club you can’t fall behind and there is no keeping up.
Find focus and drop distraction
The topic we’re exploring this month is the sticky issue of getting distracted and struggling to stay focused. AND when we do get totally hyper-focused the fallout from that can mean we emerge exhausted and burned out.
I’m sharing what’s going on in our brains, explanation for why we struggle to focus and can also hyper-focus, as well as lots of strategies for dealing with both.
You can read parts 1 and 2, and find all the other Explorations, by clicking on the button below.
Tuesday’s Body-doubling
Join us for our Zoom session 10-11am tomorrow, Tuesday 6 May, and make progress on something that you’ve been putting off, the link for paid members is below.
Accountability thread 5-9 April
What do you want or need to do this week? It could be anything like:
moving your body
drinking more water
cleaning the kitchen
making a phone call
working on a report
or anything at all
Whatever you’re struggling to do – this isn’t just for work or boring chores, this goes for making space for what gives you joy and takes care of your mental, physical or emotional health too – accountability can help you to actually do it. And then you’ll feel so good for having done it.
So, click on the image below to find this week’s accountability thread and share what you want or need to tick off your list this week.
